Mokpo (Mokpo-si) is a city in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, on the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula. Mokpo has frequent train service to Seoul and is the terminus for a number of ferry routes serving islands in the adjacent Yellow Sea (called the West Sea by Koreans). A recently released movie 'Mokpo hangbu' or 'Mokpo harbour' reflects a rather undeserved reputation for this sleepy port city as being a centre of organized crime in Korea. The harbour area is not far from Yudal mountain, a picturesque area with numerous tourist facilities.

Anmyeondo is quite a large island, stretching over 232.5 km long from the north to the south. But it was not an island originally; it used to be a cape dangling on the surfpounded southwestern end of Taean Peninsula, but was transformed to an artificial island when land was dug out to build a canal that opened a waterway toward Cheonsu Bay. The canal was built by severing Nammyeon, the narrowest part of the Taean Peninsula, and Changgiri, eventually forming Anmyeondo. In 1968, Yeonyuk Bridge was built to connect Anmyeondo with the mainland. The Taean Coastal National Park, where Anmyeondo is located, sits at the center of Taean Peninsula and the neighboring coasts of the island. The coast of Anmyeondo, which makes up 50 percent of the park, is a popular beach during the summer vacation season, but it has beautiful scenery all year round.
TEMPLE STAY AND MEDITATION
November 22 & 23
Jeondeungsa is a secluded temple situated on Mt.Jeongjoksan, not far from Incheon. The temple was originally established by Buddhist monk Adohwasang of Goguryeo, in the year 381AD. It was later renamed Jeondeungsa Temple following the donation of a jade lantern by Queen Jeonhwa during the reign of King Chungryeol (1274~1308). Many stories surround the temple and there are many things to see at Jeondongsa, including the Daeungjeon main building, and the Yaksajeon building. The legend concerning the figure tells that when building Daeungjeon,
Whilst the temple tour is interesting in itself, the experience does not truly begin until you receive instruction on Seon Meditation. The Seon form of Buddhism spread from Korea to Japan where it later became famous as 'Zen'. Many Buddhist temples are architecturally fascinating, but their significance cannot truly be grasped until some elements of Buddhism are understood.
