Rovio, Sega and Prime Focus Studios have announced the production of Angry Birds Movie 3. John Rice will direct the film, co-direct the second movie and serve as lead storyboard artist. Thurop Van Orman will return to write the screenplay for the movie.
Plot details for the movie have not been revealed, other than that it will center on the adventures of Red and Chuck. Sega is emphasizing its transmedia strategy to increase the value of its intellectual property. The first Angry Birds movie was released in 2016 and grossed more than $500 million at the worldwide box office. A release date for Angry Birds Movie 3 has not yet been disclosed.
