Nearly three years after Barbie became a global phenomenon, Illumination has confirmed its animated Barbie movie is still in development.
Big news for Barbie fans! Mattel and Illumination (yep, the team behind Minions and Despicable Me) are teaming up for a brand new animated Barbie movie — and it’s coming to theaters!
After years of fun straight-to-video adventures, Barbie is finally making her animated debut in theaters — and it’s going to be big!
We don’t know much yet — no trailer or release date — but this marks Barbie’s first-ever animated theatrical film, and that alone has us excited. With Illumination’s signature humor and storytelling magic, this could be something truly special.
