The film is directed by Maggie Kang (who worked at DreamWorks on Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda 3, and The Grinch) and Chris Appelhans (Wish Dragon). According to Kang, the idea for the project was born out of a desire to showcase Korean culture and folklore in animation. The film has a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes.
Special attention was given to the music — the soundtrack was produced by the team behind BLACKPINK's songs. The film features original songs, including the track Takedown, performed by TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung. According to the singers, the song is full of energy and determination to fight against lies and illusions.
